Interest Groups

The club has many interest groups, offering something for almost everyone. New interest groups are formed from time to time based on member demand. Do you have a new or old hobby to pursue, a talent to discover, or a sport or a game to master?

If you don't see a group for you listed here contact our Interest Group Coordinator.

General Note: Current club members may attend any function or group at any time. Prospective new members may attend up to two events before becoming an actual member. RSVP’s are generally requested for most groups so coordinators know how many to expect.

Book Clubs-Two Groups

Both groups meet once a month in the morning in members' homes. Chapter Chat meets on the fourth Tuesday. Members rotate selecting a book and then meet for discussion, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Morning Book Review meets on the third Monday. Join us, even if you have not finished the book yet, you will still enjoy the discussion and friendship! Both groups are very popular and currently full. Stay tuned for updates on openings or if a third group is formed.

Wine Tasting

This group meets several times a year in a member's home on a date and time determined by the host. The host chooses the wines and purchases them. Guests bring an appetizer to share. Cost is set by host, generally $15-20 per person payable at the door. Occasionally the group will have a special event at an outside venue chosen by the host. This is a great way to learn about different wines and have a great time. RSVPs are required.

Random Acts of Film

A great group to join for a fun morning or afternoon at the movies and an optional lunch/movie discussion afterwards! The group meets approximately once a month. The group leader, with input from members, decides on date and time, which theater and what movie to see. Leader will notify members by email with details. This group is currently inactive pending selection of a new coordinator.

Riverside Newcomers Lunch Group

These luncheons are a no-host event, held monthly (generally on the last Wednesday) at local restaurants as selected by group coordinator with input from members. Everyone chooses their own lunch, and RSVPs are required so the appropriate seating can be reserved at the restaurant. Active members of the group will receive an email from the group coordinator with all the details.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry (EDM)

This is one of our most popular interest groups, members of which get together at each other's homes to enjoy food, drink, outdoor games, and generally socialize. These casual events are generally held monthly during the warmer seasons of the year. Attendees bring their own drinks of choice and an appetizer to share.

Hiking Group

The Riverside Newcomers' Hiking Group aims to explore the beautiful nature in and around Riverside. We generally have one hike a month on Saturday mornings with the exception of the summer months, when we go dark.

Theater Buddies

This is our newest interest group as of September 2024. Members attend Sunday afternoon matinee performances of Riverside Community Players together. Most members sign up for season tickets, though some may opt to buy tickets for individual performances. There are a series of five shows each season spaced approximately two months apart.
